Easy Summer Mom Capsule Wardrobe 2024

Here we go again! Summer is officially here so you know what that means! It’s time for my summer mom capsule wardrobe for 2024!!

Why a capsule wardrobe?

If you are new to my mom-friendly capsule wardrobe series that I do here at TWHL, then let me tell you a little about it! Each season, I put together an easy-to-style mom capsule wardrobe to help moms feel more put together in their everyday lives. My goal is to make getting dressed the easiest part of your day.

I always find that less is more. A capsule wardrobe gives you a variety of clothes to wear without overwhelming your wardrobe. When building an affordable wardrobe I think it’s important to focus on versatile clothing that you can wear for any occasion. That’s why I love to put together these capsules and give you plenty of outfit ideas for the upcoming season!

Summer Mom Capsule Wardrobe

I don’t know why, but I have been putting off this capsule for a while. Even though summer is one of my favorite seasons to dress for, it’s also a tough season to create a capsule for. Summer is hot and sometimes it can be tricky to make your wardrobe versatile without layers.

For this capsule, I just tried to focus on basic easy pieces that are comfortable to wear in the heat, but also stylish. I find myself wearing a lot of basic tank tops, shorts, dresses, and rompers in the summer, so that is what this capsule wardrobe is filled with.

To help create versatility in this capsule I made sure to include a decent amount of accessories! Mixing up your accessories can easily step up your style in the summertime. Just by adding a belt or switching out your shoes can easily elevate your outfit and create a new look.

What’s in the summer mom capsule wardrobe?

Tops:

Black tank top (small)- Are you surprised to see my favorite Target black tank top in my capsule? If you have seen any of my previous capsule you probably aren’t. A black tank top goes with everything and it’s one of my most worn tops in the summer time!
Pop of color tank top (xsmall)- I always like to add a pop of color with a tank top. I’m loving the bright orange red color that I have been seeing everywhere this summer! A tank top in a trendy color is always an affordable and fun way to incorporate a trend into your wardrobe!
Striped tank top (xsmall)- I was recently asked if I ever get sick or stripes and my answer is no! How can I when each stripe piece I own is a little different than the others. It’s the easiest pattern to work with. That’s why I wanted to include this rugby stripe tank top from LOFT.
White gauzy button-down (xsmall) – A white button-down can make a great top or layering piece for summer! I am really loving the gauzy material of button-downs this summer. I have 2 from maurices, including the off-white one I am sharing in this capsule.
Graphic tee (xsmall) – You may already recognize this Abercrombie graphic tee from my spring capsule. It was such a big hit I had to include it for summer! I am picky with my graphic tees and this one is so soft, plus it’s a neutral color so it goes with everything!

Layers

Denim Jacket (xsmall)- I love denim jackets so much because they are a year-round layering piece. My latest denim jacket is from ABLE and I can’t say enough good things about this jacket. Bottoms

Athletic skort (xsmall) – Skorts are one of my favorite bottoms to wear in the summer! They are my summer leggings!! I love that they look like a skirt, but they have shorts underneath making them very mom-friendly!
Jean shorts (0)- I find a good pair of jean shorts to be essential in my summer capsule wardrobe. This pair from Walmart is my favorite! They are not too short, but not too long either. I also appreciate that they have some stretch to them. Plus you can’t beat the price!! I also linked a few other favorite jeans short options!
Linen tailored shorts– I bought my trouser shorts last year at Old Navy and I loved them! ( See how I styled my tailored shorts HERE) They are a great way to elevate your summer outfit but also keep it comfortable! My shorts are currently out of stock but I have found some great options to shop this year!

Dresses & Rompers

Overall Romper (small)- I love wearing rompers in the summer. They are so easy and comfortable to wear as a mom. I like this overall option because you can layer different tops underneath it which gives it a new look each time you wear it. It also makes for a great bathing suit cover-up.
Striped dress (xsmall)- I love a good striped dress. This dress from LOFT is the perfect elevated t-shirt dress. It’s super comfortable and easy to throw on and go! I also linked some other great striped dress options.

Shoes

Adidas Sambas (7-sized down a half size) My Adidas sambas are my favorite sneakers at the moment. I wear them almost every day! I find them to be very comfortable and practical. They are pretty popular at the moment but they are also a classic sneaker that has been around for years, which means they will last in your wardrobe.
Slide sandals (7.5)- I love cute easy shoes to throw on in the summer! Target always has great slide sandals! My favorite pair is my cognac sandals which I also shared in my spring capsule wardrobe this year.
Dad sandals (7-sized down a half size)- Although I love a cute slide sandal they often don’t offer much support. That’s why I like the dad sandals. They are a little more sturdy and offer some better support. Especially if you plan on wearing them all day.

Accessories

Straw hat– I love hats in the summer. They are practical because they protect your head and face from the sun, but also are a great way to complete an outfit. I think it’s important to find a good hat that works with the shape of your face. Some people feel weird in hats, but what I find is that the more I wear my hats the less awkward I feel wearing them! My favorite straw hats are from Amazon. I have 2 because I wear them so much.
Baseball cap– Another style of hat that you will see on all my capsule wardrobe posts is my 47 clean-up hat. I have a lot of these hats, but my favorite is my gray Tigers hat. It goes with everything!
Straw purse– Straw purses always feel like summer to me. My straw tote is great because it works for the beach or pool. Plus you can also use it for running errands.
Sunglasses– You can’t forget sunglasses! They can complete any summer look! My favorite is this pair from Amazon! They are affordable and so far indestructible. My 3-year-old has pulled them off my face and bent them in ways I thought for sure they would break, but so far we are good!
Belts– Belts are a great accessory for summer. They can be worn with a dress to draw in your waist or complete your look with shorts. I love buying my belts in a 2 pack on Amazon because it always gives me 2 different color options to work with. My favorite belts at the moment are these designer-inspired Amazon belts.
