Baby Update- Three Months

Baby Update

Anna is 3 months already! That’s a quarter of a year! I can’t believe how fast it’s going, but if I learned one thing from the first time around, it’s that babies grow fast. You have to soak it all in while you can!

This month Anna’s likes are smiling, her big brother, standing up when she’s held, and bath time. Really there’s not much she doesn’t like. So far her only dislike is her car seat. She hates it and cries every time she’s in it unless she’s sleeping. Anna has been getting so active this month. I can tell that we are officially out of the newborn stage. She’s grabbing at everything, eating her hands, and even rolling over. She can roll from tummy to back and back to tummy. It seems pretty early to be that mobile, but she probably can’t wait to keep up with her big brother.

Anna is 2 months already and this summer is flying by. I spent the beginning of the summer pregnant and wishing away every day and now I’m spending the end of the summer wishing each day wouldn’t end. Babies grow way too fast so I just want to soak in every day I have with my baby girl. I am enjoying having a baby again so much. C-section vs. VBAC

My 2 birth experiences were completely different from each other, yet I still ended up with the same outcome which was a healthy baby. 4 years ago, when I gave birth to my son Jack, I delivered him by emergency c-section. Recently, with my second baby, Anna, I was able to deliver her by VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean). As long as you didn’t have any medical problems or complications with your first pregnancy, most women have the choice to have a VBAC or a repeat c-section for their second birth. It’s a personal choice and both deliveries have their risks. Today I want to share both of my birth experiences with you. You might be someone on the fence about what direction to go in, so hopefully, my experiences with both will help you with your decision.

Let’s talk about postpartum recovery for a minute. It’s not an easy process. For me, after sharing my body with another human for 9 months, I got very excited about getting my body back. It’s exciting to think about all the clothes that you can wear again and just how much more comfortable it is without a baby pressing against your insides. The problem is, postpartum recovery takes time. It’s much more than just recovering from childbirth. Your body needs to heal from the pregnancy too.

My Birth Story- Baby #2 Successful VBAC

Warning: this post is pretty long, but I tried to record everything from my birth story. I don’t want to forget anything. I not only want to share my story with all of you but I also want to have it as a memory for myself to look back on.

If you read my birth story for Jack, (Read that story HERE) you already know that he was born by c-section. It was unexpected and caused because his head was facing up and no matter how hard I pushed he wouldn’t come out. I was never against having another c-section birth, but I wanted to avoid it if I could. A c-section is major abdominal surgery and I worried how I’d recover with a newborn and a 4-year-old at home with me. My first choice was to try a VBAC first and let the baby come naturally. I also knew that I didn’t want to go past that 40-week mark, so I scheduled a back-up repeat c-section for 39 weeks. I honestly didn’t know what to expect this time around, so I prepared myself for anything.
