Do you ever find a cute outfit you like on Pinterest or Instagram and think, I really love this look, but I could never pull it off? I know I do that all the time. I sometimes worry that I might be too old to wear something or it might look dumb on me. I think we all do that though. Lately, I’ve been trying to take more risks with my outfits. I’m not doing anything too crazy, just trying a few new styles to see how I like them. If it’s not for me, I don’t keep them, but what I’ve been finding out is that I am really loving the new fashion risks I’m trying out.

As a parent, we are always concerned about the safety of our children, especially when they are babies. From the moment they are born we start to worry. When I brought my children home from the hospital, I didn’t want them to be far from me, especially at night. It was important for my babies to sleep close to me in those first few months so that I could be sure they were safe. I’d often find myself waking up in the middle of the night just to make sure that they were still breathing. With Jack, I kept him in our room until he was 3 months old, then moved him into his own room to his crib. His room was right next to our bedroom and I could hear him easily with the door opened. I never registered for a baby monitor, because at the time we had a little one-story condo and I didn’t have a need for it. The second-time-around with Anna, things are a little different.

I have never been a believer in the silly fashion rule that white can’t be worn after Labor Day. Why not? I believe that white is a year-round color, especially when it comes to a good pair of white jeans. After sharing your body with another human for 9 months, it’s only natural to want to get your body back after you have a baby. For me, I didn’t enjoy my pregnant body. I felt uncomfortable with it. There were definitely times when I looked at myself in awe of what my body could do, but most of the time I just wanted to get back to my old self. I’m much more comfortable with my postpartum body than I was with my pregnant body. It’s not perfect, but I feel like I’m headed in the right direction.

Baby Update- Three Months

Baby Update

Anna is 3 months already! That’s a quarter of a year! I can’t believe how fast it’s going, but if I learned one thing from the first time around, it’s that babies grow fast. You have to soak it all in while you can!

This month Anna’s likes are smiling, her big brother, standing up when she’s held, and bath time. Really there’s not much she doesn’t like. So far her only dislike is her car seat. She hates it and cries every time she’s in it unless she’s sleeping. Anna has been getting so active this month. I can tell that we are officially out of the newborn stage. She’s grabbing at everything, eating her hands, and even rolling over. She can roll from tummy to back and back to tummy. It seems pretty early to be that mobile, but she probably can’t wait to keep up with her big brother.
